WALDWERK 7-piece acacia block set review

Seven knives in an acacia block with a built-in sharpener, sold on the materials — the maker states no cheap plastic handles and an acacia rest that is kind to blades.

What we would actually buy Better materials than most block sets and the same sharpener compromise. Seven is a sensible count.

What you are getting

Seven knives in an acacia block with a sharpener built in, and a maker who leads on materials rather than on the piece count.

The acacia claim

WALDWERK state the acacia is a blade-friendly rest. Wood is gentler than the steel rods of some universal blocks, and the point stands — though slot orientation still decides whether the edge is dragged.

The sharpener

Three or four pulls, as the maker states. Use it when honing stops working, not weekly: carbide takes real steel and a blade has a finite number of sharpenings in it.

The handles

Stated not to be cheap plastic, without a named material. That is a claim rather than a specification, and it is worth checking before ordering.

The questions that come in

How often should I use the built-in sharpener?

Only when honing no longer restores the cut. WALDWERK state three or four pulls; doing that weekly would consume the blades far faster than the edge requires.

What are the handles made of?

The listing states they are not cheap plastic without naming the material. Check the product page images and description before ordering if it matters to you.
