Yabano 8-piece set with block and sharpener review
A block that comes with eight knives and a sharpener built into it — the opposite philosophy to the empty blocks in this hub, and the one that suits a kitchen with nothing in it.
What we would actually buy Convenient and complete. The built-in sharpener is the feature and the thing that will slowly consume the blades.
What you are getting
Eight coated stainless knives in a block with a sharpener built into it, including 8-inch chef’s, carving and bread knives and a 5.5-inch serrated utility knife.
The built-in sharpener
Draw the blade through and the edge comes back. It is carbide, so it removes real steel each time — which on knives of this type is a sensible trade, since restoring them in seconds matters more than preserving them for decades.
The coating
Black nonstick on the blades, stated to resist oxidation and sticking. At the cutting edge it disappears with the first sharpening.
Against an empty block
If you already own knives, buy an empty block from this hub instead. If you own none, this is one purchase rather than five.

The questions that come in
Are built-in block sharpeners any good?
They restore a working edge in seconds and they take a lot of metal. On inexpensive coated knives that is a fair trade; on a good blade it is not.
Should these go in the dishwasher?
The maker states they can. The edges still knock against everything in the basket and the detergent still attacks the steel — hand washing keeps them sharp far longer.

An empty acacia block with fifteen slots of different sizes and rubber feet — the right way to buy a block, since the knives you already own are the ones it has to hold.
Best for: A kitchen that already owns good knives.
6 pieces WITH knives · forged German stainless · double-rivet construction · StaySharp sharpener built into the block
The top of this hub: six forged German stainless knives with double-rivet construction, in a block whose StaySharp sharpener works as the knife is put away.
Best for: A household that will never sharpen knives deliberately.
