What you are getting

Five nesting stainless steel bowls, three grater attachments and lids — in thicker steel with a mirrored interior, stated 100 per cent dishwasher safe.

The graters are the reason to buy it

Three built-in grater attachments for grating, slicing and shredding. Grate carrots directly into these stainless steel mixing bowls to eliminate extra cutting bo[ards].

Nothing else on this shelf does this, and the saving is real: a box grater needs a board under it and then the shreds get transferred. An attachment that sits on the bowl rim means one object to wash instead of three.

A mirrored interior, which is the right finish for a bowl

Lets food slide off easily.

Worth noting because it is the opposite of what you want on a mortar, where a rough surface does the grinding. In a bowl you want nothing to cling — and a polished steel interior releases dough and batter far better than a brushed one.

Read the piece count

“8PCS” is 5 bowls + 3 graters. The lids are not counted — where Zulay and COOK WITH COLOR both count theirs. The shelf does not agree with itself on what a piece is.

The weight cannot be right

454 g for five steel bowls, three graters and lids. Cuisinart’s three bowls weigh 1,769 g and Viking’s ten pieces 2,722. Treat it as a catalog error.

What is not published

No capacities for any bowl. No steel gauge, despite the “thicker” claim. No non-slip base. No microwave claim — no steel set here makes one. No warranty.

The questions that come in

How useful are the grater attachments?

More than they sound, and nothing else on this shelf has them. The saving Boskermeal names is the right one: "grate carrots directly into these stainless steel mixing bowls to eliminate extra cutting bo[ards]." A box grater needs a board beneath it, the shreds pile up around rather than under it, and then everything is transferred — three objects for one job. An attachment that sits on the bowl rim is one object, and the shreds land where they are going. Three heads cover grating, slicing and shredding, which is most of what the box graters on this site do with four sides. What it will not do is the fine zesting side of a box grater, and the attachments are three more things to store.

Can it weigh 454 grams?

No. The catalog lists 454 g (16 oz) — one pound — for five stainless steel bowls, three grater attachments and a set of lids. The comparisons are on the same shelf: Cuisinart’s three stainless bowls are 1,769 g (62.4 oz), Viking’s ten pieces are 2,722 g (96 oz), and Pyrex Colors’ three glass bowls with lids are 4,019 g (141.8 oz). One pound is roughly what a single mid-sized steel bowl weighs. Expect something in the region of two kilograms. It matters because the listing claims "thicker stainless steel" that "resist[s] dents and rust better than thinner brands" — and weight is the only way to check a thickness claim when no gauge is published. Neither this nor Priority Chef, which makes the same claim, publishes one.

Why is a mirrored interior right here?

Because a bowl wants nothing to cling, and that is the opposite of some other kitchen surfaces. Boskermeal publishes "a mirrored interior that lets food slide off easily" — and a polished steel surface genuinely releases dough, batter and whipped egg far better than a brushed or satin one, where the grain gives the mixture something to key into. The contrast worth drawing is with a mortar, where every good listing specifies a rough, unpolished interior precisely because grinding needs friction. Same material, opposite requirement. For a mixing bowl the other thing a mirror finish buys is that it shows you when it is clean — a satin interior hides a film of fat.
