What you are getting

A swivel peeler with dual ultra-sharp stainless steel blades, a built-in blemish remover, a soft non-slip rubber handle for either hand, a hanging hole, and 68 g (2.4 oz).

It names the thing that ruins a peeler mid-job

“Smooth Glide Technology - Will not clog with peels”

That is the practical failure of a cheap peeler. The slot behind the blade is what the peel has to pass through, and when it is too narrow — or the blade sits too close to the frame — wet potato peel packs into it and the peeler stops cutting until you dig it out with a thumb.

Three listings on this shelf address it: this one, FUHUY (“won’t clog with peels”) and Zulay (“doesn’t clog with peels”). KITCHPOWER mentions it among the things a peeler should handle.

Arthritis, named

Efficient and lightweight and is easy to use, even for those with arthritis.

Four of twelve listings here say it — Spring Chef, Zulay, KITCHPOWER, FUHUY — and it is what a thick soft handle is actually for.

And its sentences appear elsewhere on this shelf

The “melted butter” bullet and the “non-slip rubber handle… right and left-handed” bullet appear word for word on the Rainspire listing at $3.99.

Which page borrowed from which is not knowable. Spring Chef’s page is the one that also publishes smooth glide technology and arthritis, and Rainspire’s is the one that calls itself a euro peeler.

What is not published

No blade grade, where both KitchenAids publish 420. No blade guard. No warranty.

The questions that come in

What does "will not clog" actually mean?

It refers to the slot behind the blade, and it is the commonest practical annoyance with a cheap peeler. As the blade cuts, the strip of peel has to pass through the gap between the blade and the frame behind it. If that gap is too narrow, or the blade is set too close, wet potato peel packs into it within a few strokes — and the peeler stops cutting until you clear it with a thumb or tap it out. Spring Chef calls its answer "Smooth Glide Technology", which is a name rather than a description, but the claim is the right one to make. FUHUY ("won’t clog with peels") and Zulay ("doesn’t clog with peels") are the only others here that address it. On soft wet peel — courgette, cucumber, new potato — it is the difference between a minute and five.

Is it worth $5 more than the Rainspire?

They are hard to separate on the page, because two of the five bullets are identical. The "melted butter" sentence and the "non-slip rubber handle... right and left-handed... hole for easy hanging" sentence appear word for word on Rainspire’s $3.99 listing. What Spring Chef publishes that Rainspire does not: smooth glide technology against clogging, arthritis as a named use case, "dual stainless steel blades stay ultra sharp", and a published 68 g (2.4 oz) against Rainspire’s 59. What Rainspire publishes that Spring Chef does not is a contradiction — its last bullet calls it a "euro peeler" on a product titled a swivel peeler. Spring Chef is the better-documented of the two; neither names a blade grade.

How does it compare with a Y-peeler?

Different tool for a different job, and none of the twelve listings on this shelf explains it. This is a swivel or I-peeler: blade in line with the handle, pulled toward you along the length of the vegetable, with the head pivoting to follow curves. That is what you want on small round produce — new potatoes, apples, ginger, carrots — where control matters more than width. A Y-peeler has the blade across the handle and you plane with it, taking a wider swath. That is faster on big produce: squash, celeriac, swede. On this shelf the Y-peelers are the KitchenAid Y and the OXO Julienne, and FUHUY is the only listing that includes both shapes in one pack, for $9.99.
