The second bullet first
“Weber Crafted frame kit and grates are required to use Weber Crafted Outdoor Collection grillware.”
So this is half a system. The grates have a shaped opening; the frame kit sits in it; the grillware — griddle, roaster, pizza stone, steamer, the whole “roast, bake, flat top cook, steam, sear, crisp” range the page advertises — mounts on the frame.
The frame kit is a separate purchase and its price is not stated anywhere on this listing.
Buy the grates alone and you have a very good set of porcelain-enamelled cast iron grates for a Genesis 300. That is a legitimate purchase. It is not the one the page is selling.
Twenty-eight cents a square inch
The most expensive grate on this shelf, by a wide margin:
- $0.068 — Direct Store, three grids, 472 sq in, $31.99
- $0.080 — COGRICHBF, two grates, 450 sq in
- $0.096 — QuliMetal, 417 sq in · $0.120 — EasiBBQ, 332 sq in
- $0.133 — Lodge topper · $0.194 — Broil King, one grid
- $0.210 — KAMaster · $0.220 — Aura
- $0.277 — this, about 506 sq in, $139.99
Four times the Direct Store set.
And it is not the most cast iron here
This is the part worth knowing before paying for it.
7,900 g over about 506 square inches is 15.6 grams per square inch.
- EasiBBQ two-pack ($39.99) — 18.1 g (0.6 oz)/sq in
- Broil King single grid ($20.99) — 16.8
- Weber Crafted 7853 ($139.99) — 15.6
- Aura kettle grate ($79.97) — 10.0
So a $39.99 two-pack on this same shelf carries more cast iron per inch than this does.
The money is not buying more metal. It is buying exact fit on a Genesis 300, a known finish, a published care routine, and the Crafted frame interface.
Credit where due, though: Weber is one of the few listings here that publishes both a dimension and a weight, which is the only reason the comparison above can be made at all. Five grates on this shelf publish no weight.
The cleaning routine, which is the best on the shelf
Two halves, both correct.
Ordinary use: preheat grill on high for 15 minutes and brush grates with stainless steel grill brush. The preheat is the part people skip — residue turns to ash at grilling temperature and brushes straight off, whereas brushing a cold grate smears it around. Note stainless rather than brass: brass is kinder to enamel and will not shift much.
Heavy grease: use Weber Grate Cleaner and Scrubber Pads after the grill has completely cooled.
Only Direct Store publishes anything comparable, and it is the same preheat-and-brush advice.
What none of the five porcelain grates on this shelf tells you is the thing to actually avoid: chipping the enamel. That is its one weakness, and a chip exposes bare iron, which rusts at the chip. QuliMetal argues on this shelf that bare iron is better for exactly that reason.
Nought point four inches
The bar height — lower than the Aura kettle grate’s 0.5 inch, which is consistent with 15.6 grams per square inch rather than more.
No warranty published. True of all ten grates here.

The questions that come in
What exactly does the frame kit do?
It is the mount that everything else in the system clips into, and the listing is clear that you need both: "Weber Crafted frame kit and grates are required to use Weber Crafted Outdoor Collection grillware." The grates have a shaped opening; the frame sits in it; the grillware — griddle, roaster, pizza stone, steamer, the "roast, bake, flat top cook, steam, sear, crisp" range — mounts on the frame. Buy the grates alone and you have a very good set of porcelain-enamelled cast iron grates for a Genesis 300, which is a legitimate purchase but not the one the page is selling. The frame kit price is not stated anywhere on this listing, so the figure you see is not the cost of the capability. The 7854 listing on this shelf adds that the frame can be stored under the grates when idle.
Is it worth four times the cheapest set here?
Only for the system, because on the metal it does not lead. At $139.99 for about 506 square inches this is 27.7 cents a square inch — against 6.8 for the Direct Store three-grid set, 8.0 for the COGRICHBF two-pack and 9.6 for the QuliMetal Weber Spirit set. And on casting density it is beaten on its own shelf: 15.6 grams of cast iron per square inch here, against 18.1 for the $39.99 EasiBBQ two-pack and 16.8 for the single Broil King grid. So the money is not buying more iron. It is buying exact fit on a Genesis 300, a known finish, a published care routine, and the Crafted frame interface. Those are real, and they are the whole of it.
How should I clean them?
Weber publishes the best routine on this shelf, and it has two halves. For ordinary use: "Preheat grill on high for 15 minutes and brush grates with stainless steel grill brush." Preheating is the important part — burnt-on residue turns to ash at grilling temperature and brushes off, whereas brushing a cold grate just smears it. Note stainless steel brush rather than brass: a brass brush is kinder to enamel but will not shift much. For the second half: "For heavy grease buildup, use Weber Grate Cleaner and Scrubber Pads after the grill has completely cooled." Only Direct Store on this shelf publishes anything comparable, and it is the same preheat-and-brush advice. What none of the porcelain grates here tells you is to avoid chipping the enamel, which is their one real weakness.
