Tefal Jamie Oliver Cook’s Direct On 28 cm (11 in) wok review

The top of this hub: a stainless-bodied wok with a titanium-reinforced nonstick interior, Thermo-Signal indicator, riveted cast stainless handle, and every hob type including induction.

What we would actually buy The best-built wok in this hub. The missing oven figure is the one thing a metal-handled pan should always publish.

What you are getting

A 28 cm (11 in) wok with a stainless body, a titanium-reinforced nonstick interior, a riveted cast stainless handle, and Tefal’s Thermo-Signal in the base. It works on every hob type including induction.

Why the handle matters here

A wok is lifted and shaken. A riveted cast stainless handle takes that without loosening, where a molded handle on a screw eventually does not. It is also what makes the pan oven-capable in principle — though the maker does not publish a limit, which is a gap.

Thermo-Signal in a wok

More useful than in a flat pan. A stir-fry depends on the surface being hot before anything lands, and the indicator answers that without a water-droplet test on a coated surface, which you should not do anyway.

What we rate, and what we do not

Strengths

  • Stainless body and riveted stainless handle, so nothing on it is plastic
  • Works on induction, unlike the cheaper Tefal wok in this hub
  • Thermo-Signal, which in a wok is the most useful place for it

Compromises

  • Sold under Jamie Oliver by Tefal while Amazon’s metadata attributes it to Rowenta — same group
  • No oven limit published, despite a fully metal handle
  • The most expensive wok here by a wide margin

The questions that come in

Why does Amazon list this as Rowenta?

Amazon’s brand metadata attributes it to Rowenta, and the product is sold as Tefal Jamie Oliver Cook’s Direct On. Both belong to the same group. This page uses the name the product carries.

Can it go in the oven?

The handle is riveted cast stainless, which is the construction that normally allows it, but Tefal does not publish an oven limit for this wok. Without a figure, nothing is claimed here.
