What we would actually buy The guard is the specification on a mandoline, and this listing does not mention one. Buy the glove with it.
What you are getting
A mandoline with four cutting thicknesses selected by a sliding control, a stainless front blade and a MIPS plastic body.
What the listing does not mention
A hand guard. On a mandoline that is the specification, not a feature: the blade is fixed and invisible under the food, and the guard is what keeps a hand above it. Check the product images before ordering.
The last slice
No guard holds the final centimeter. That is where mandolines cut people, and it is why a cut-resistant glove should be part of the purchase rather than an afterthought.
The settings
Four, by slide. Enough for potatoes, cucumber and onion, which is what a domestic mandoline is used for.

The questions that come in
Do I really need a cut-resistant glove?
A mandoline is the tool that causes the injuries knives get blamed for: the blade is fixed and hidden under the food, and the last slice cannot be held by any guard. A glove costs a few dollars.
Is four settings enough?
For slicing potatoes, cucumber and onion, yes. Continuous adjustment is nicer and is not what makes a mandoline safe or useful.
