culilux Gourmet L walnut end grain review
The top of this hub: an oiled walnut end-grain board, usable on both sides, with a juice groove that ends in a spout and an integrated recess for trimmings.
What we would actually buy End grain, walnut, a spout and a recess. Everything about it is considered, and it is priced accordingly.
What you are getting
An oiled walnut end-grain board, usable on both sides, with a one-sided juice groove ending in a pouring spout and an integrated recess for trimmings.
Why the details matter
The spout turns a groove from a moat into a channel. The recess gives somewhere for peelings to go without a second bowl. Both are the sort of thing designed by someone who cooks.
End grain in walnut
The premium construction in a dense, dark timber: kindest to edges, fewest visible marks, heaviest and most expensive.
The care
Oil it regularly with food-grade mineral oil — walnut looks dull when it is dry, which is the board telling you. Wash both faces, dry on edge, never in a dishwasher.

The questions that come in
What does a spout add to a juice groove?
A groove that simply runs around the board collects juice and then has to be tipped carefully. One that ends in a spout pours it into a jug, which is the difference between collecting a roasting juice and mopping it up.
Is walnut better than acacia?
It is denser and darker and generally regarded as gentler on edges than harder timbers. The construction — end grain — matters more than the species.
