QuliMetal QM-EU-KAOW-CG review

A solid bare cast iron set for Weber Spirit, and the only grate here that publishes what it does not fit.

What we would actually buy The only grate here that tells you what it does NOT fit — not Genesis Silver A, not Genesis II LX — which on a replacement part is worth more than another twenty model numbers. It also claims bare iron will not rust, and publishes no care instructions.

What the maker puts in writing

  • “Precisely engineered to fit Weber Spirit 300 Series including Spirit E310, S310, E315, S315, E320, E330, S320, S330, as well as Spirit 700, for Weber 900, and multiple Genesis models like Genesis Silver B/C, Gold B/C (2002+), Genesis 1000–3500 and Genesis Platinum (2000–2010). - Not compatible with Genesis Silver A. - Replacement for Weber parts #7638, 7525, 7527, 65619, 65906. Also fits Weber SmokeFire EX4 / EX6 pellet grills”
  • “Fully compatible with weber spirit 2 grill grates, including Spirit II E-310, S-310, SP-310, SP-330, and LX 300 Series… (non-Genesis, did not fit Genesis II LX( incompatibility ) )”
  • “Each grate measures 17.5 x 11.9 inches, making the full set 17.5 x 23.8 inches in total… Fits popular models like 45010001, 46510001, 47510001, 46810001”
  • “Made from solid cast iron, these… grill grates outperform enamel-coated versions in heat retention, durability, and searing ability. They won’t chip or rust easily”
  • “Ideal for high-heat cooking and consistent temperature control… deliver even heat across the entire surface, locking in juices and leaving bold sear marks”

Two sentences that save money

“Not compatible with Genesis Silver A.” “did not fit Genesis II LX (incompatibility)”

The only incompatibilities published anywhere on this shelf.

That is worth more than another twenty model numbers, because a replacement part either fits or is useless — and a list of positives tells you nothing about the grill you own unless it happens to appear on it.

These two resolve exactly the cases a buyer would otherwise guess wrong. Genesis Silver A looks like Silver B and C. Genesis II LX looks like Genesis II.

And the listing names the Weber part numbers it replaces — 7638, 7525, 7527, 65619, 65906 — so you can check against the part in your hand rather than against a model name on a badge.

Direct Store on this shelf gives the matching advice: measure your original parts before ordering.

The claim to set aside

“They won’t chip or rust easily.”

Half of that is right. There is no coating on bare cast iron, so nothing can chip. That is a real advantage over the five porcelain-coated grates on this shelf, where a chip exposes bare metal and then rusts at the chip.

The other half is wrong, and the rest of this shelf shows it.

COGRICHBF — the only other bare-iron grate here — publishes a full routine for precisely this reason: never leave standing water on cast iron longer than 10 to 15 minutes; dry it immediately if washed; leave a film of cooking oil on it after every use.

KAMaster publishes six numbered anti-rust tips.

QuliMetal publishes none at all.

Bare cast iron is excellent, and it needs oiling. Treat these like a cast iron pan.

The searing argument, which is sound

Solid cast iron grates outperform enamel-coated versions in heat retention, durability, and searing ability.

Taken as a claim about searing, that holds. Bare iron touches the food with no glass layer between it and the metal, so it transfers heat harder and marks darker.

What the five coated grates on this shelf offer instead is the inverse: food releases more easily, a brush cleans them without catching, and they do not rust.

So the decision is about habit, not performance: enamel for anyone who will not oil their grates, bare iron for anyone who will.

Four hundred and seventeen square inches

17.5 × 11.9 inches each, 17.5 × 23.8 as a set — published clearly, which several listings here do not manage.

At $39.99 that is 9.6 cents a square inch, third cheapest on this shelf behind Direct Store (6.8) and COGRICHBF (8.0), and well under the Weber Crafted set at 27.7.

What is not published

No weight, so the casting thickness cannot be placed against the grates that publish one — EasiBBQ 18.1 grams per square inch, Broil King 16.8, Weber Crafted 15.6, Aura 10.0.

No care instructions, which on bare iron is the omission that matters.

No warranty. True of all ten grates here.

What we rate, and what we do not

Strengths

  • The only grate on this shelf that publishes incompatibilities, which is what a replacement part buyer actually needs
  • Lists the Weber part numbers it replaces — 7638, 7525, 7527, 65619, 65906 — so the match can be checked exactly
  • Bare solid cast iron sears harder than enamel and has no coating to chip

Compromises

  • Claims bare cast iron "won’t chip or rust easily", and bare cast iron does rust
  • Publishes no care instructions at all, where the other bare-iron listing here publishes a full routine
  • No weight published, so the casting thickness cannot be compared

The questions that come in

Why does a list of what it does NOT fit matter so much?

Because a replacement part either fits or is useless, and a list of positives cannot tell you about the model you own unless it happens to appear. QuliMetal is the only listing on this shelf that publishes a negative: "Not compatible with Genesis Silver A" and "(non-Genesis, did not fit Genesis II LX (incompatibility))". Those two sentences will save more wasted orders than the forty Charbroil numbers on the Direct Store listing, because they resolve exactly the cases a buyer would otherwise guess at — Genesis Silver A looks like Silver B and C, and Genesis II LX looks like Genesis II. It also names the Weber part numbers it replaces — 7638, 7525, 7527, 65619, 65906 — which lets you check against the part you are holding rather than against a model name.

Does bare cast iron really not rust?

No — and this is the one claim on the page to set aside. QuliMetal writes that its grates "won’t chip or rust easily". Half of that is right: there is no coating on bare cast iron, so nothing can chip. The other half is wrong in a way the rest of this shelf demonstrates. COGRICHBF, the other bare-iron grate here, publishes a full routine for exactly this reason: never leave standing water on it for more than 10 to 15 minutes, dry it immediately if washed, and leave a film of cooking oil on it after every use. KAMaster publishes six numbered anti-rust tips. QuliMetal publishes none at all. Bare cast iron is excellent and it needs oiling. Treat it as you would a cast iron pan.

Is bare cast iron worth choosing over enamel?

For searing, yes, and QuliMetal’s own words are a fair statement of the case: solid cast iron grates "outperform enamel-coated versions in heat retention, durability, and searing ability" and "deliver even heat across the entire surface, locking in juices and leaving bold sear marks". Bare iron touches the food directly with no glass layer between, so it transfers heat harder. Five grates on this shelf are porcelain-coated — Direct Store, Aura, EasiBBQ, Broil King and both Weber Crafted sets — and their advantage is the inverse: food releases more easily, a brush cleans them without catching, and they do not rust. The honest decision is about habit rather than performance: enamel for people who will not oil their grates, bare iron for people who will.
