KARL HAUSMANN 4-piece set with lid thermometers review

Four stainless pots with four tempered glass lids, and a thermometer built into each lid knob — the only set here that publishes both total and usable volume for every piece.

What we would actually buy The volumes are published honestly and the sizes do not overlap. That is more than most sets at any price manage.

What is in the box

Four pots — 14, 16, 18 cm (7.1 in) and larger — each with a matched tempered glass lid, and a thermometer built into every lid knob.

The volumes, published twice

This listing gives total and usable volume for each pot: 1.3/1.0 L, 1.9/1.5 L, 2.6/2.0 L and so on. That second figure is the one that matters when a recipe says two liters of stock, and almost nobody publishes it.

What the sizes cover

The 14 cm (5.5 in) handles a sauce, milk or a side. The middle sizes cover vegetables and pasta for two. There is no frying pan and no sauté, so this set equips the boiling half of a kitchen and not the frying half.

What is not stated

Base construction. Whether there is an aluminum core, and whether it is a disc or full cladding, decides how evenly these pots heat — and the listing is silent.

What we rate, and what we do not

Strengths

  • Publishes total AND usable volume, which no other set here does
  • Thermometers in the lid knobs, so the lid stays on while you check
  • Four genuinely different sizes rather than two duplicated ones

Compromises

  • Eight pieces counted as a four-pot set — read the diameters, not the number
  • No frying pan or sauté in the set
  • No base construction published

The questions that come in

What is the difference between total and usable volume?

Total is the pot filled to the brim; usable is filled to a level you can actually cook at without boiling over. Most makers publish only the first, which is why a "2 liter" pot holds about 1.5 liters of soup.

Is a lid thermometer useful?

For anything simmered or held at temperature, yes, because you can read it without lifting the lid and losing the heat. For boiling water it tells you nothing you did not know.
