SHARPAL Diamond 325/1200 with storage base review
The top of this hub: industrial monocrystalline diamond bonded to a 9 mm (0.35 in) steel plate, in two grits, with a storage base — built to sharpen anything hard.
What we would actually buy Built like a tool rather than a kitchen accessory. For kitchen knives alone, the combination stones below do more for less.
What you are getting
A dual-grit diamond plate — 325 coarse at 45 micron and 1200 extra fine at 12 micron — of industrial monocrystalline diamond bonded to a 9 mm (0.35 in) steel base, with a non-slip storage base.
The published micron sizes
Grit numbers vary between manufacturers; micron sizes do not. Publishing both is the most precise specification in this hub.
The substrate
Nine millimeters of steel. It does not flex under pressure and it does not dish, which is what separates a diamond plate from a water stone over years of use.
Who it is for
Anyone sharpening hard steel, carbide or garden tools as well as kitchen knives. For kitchen knives alone, the 1000/6000 combination stones in this hub give a finer finish for a fraction of the price.

What we rate, and what we do not
Strengths
Publishes the micron sizes as well as the grit numbers
A 9 mm (0.35 in) steel substrate, which stays flat under pressure
Cuts materials a kitchen stone cannot touch, including carbide
Compromises
The most expensive stone here, and the finest grit is only 1200
1200 is a working edge rather than a polished one
Diamond is aggressive on soft European kitchen steels

The questions that come in
Is 1200 fine enough for a kitchen knife?
It gives a working edge that cuts food perfectly. It does not polish, so the edge looks coarser than one finished on 6000 grit — which no tomato has ever noticed.
Will diamond damage a soft knife?
It removes metal quickly, so a soft European blade needs a light hand and few strokes. That is a technique adjustment rather than a warning.

Close prices, same category: comparable cookware and knives. We keep only the specifications all of them publish, because a column with gaps compares nothing.
