What you are getting

A 75 x 26 x 48 inch waterproof vinyl cover with an insulated cotton lining and air vents, sized for a 6 to 6.25 foot outdoor kitchen island.

The vents

One of only two covers on this shelf that have them, and they address what the other nine do not: a waterproof cover keeps moisture in as well as out.

A grill covered warm steams; overnight temperature swings condense whatever air is trapped. In a sealed envelope that water runs back onto the metal and the grill spends the night wet.

Formosa says “air vents promote circulation”. Unicook is the only other.

The cotton lining, honestly

The reason given is sound: “soft insulated lined interior, you won’t worry about scratches”. Unlined coated fabric flapping against a stainless lid polishes it, which is why SunPatio lines with vinyl and Summerset with polyester.

But cotton absorbs. Where a synthetic lining sheds condensation, cotton holds it against the metal and takes much longer to dry. The vents are presumably why the two features appear together.

What it names

Tytus, Mont Alpi 805, Nexgrill, Blackstone and Charbroiler islands, plus the caution to let the island cool before covering.

What is not published

No fixing at all — no straps, no drawstring — on a cover six feet wide and four tall. Every other cover here except COMFY LIME publishes one. No denier and no warranty either.

The questions that come in

Why do air vents matter so much?

Because a waterproof cover keeps moisture in as well as out. A grill covered while still warm pushes its own moisture out as vapor; overnight temperature swings do the same to any air trapped under the cover. In a sealed envelope that vapor condenses on the inside of the cover and runs back onto the metal, so the grill spends the night wet — which rusts a firebox and seizes a hinge faster than rain does, because rain at least dries. Only Formosa and Unicook publish vents on this shelf: Formosa says "air vents promote circulation", Unicook "wide covered mesh vents at both sides for air circulation to let moisture escape". Unicook adds the second benefit: air that passes through does not lift the cover.

Is a cotton lining a good idea outdoors?

It is a genuine trade-off and this listing only gives you one side of it. The case for it is real and Formosa states it: "soft insulated lined interior, you won’t worry about scratches". Unlined coated fabric moving in wind against a stainless lid polishes and scuffs it, which is why SunPatio lines with vinyl and Summerset with smooth polyester. The case against cotton specifically is that it is absorbent: where a vinyl or polyester lining sheds condensation, cotton holds it against the metal and takes far longer to dry. The air vents help, and they are presumably why the two features appear on the same cover. On a grill that is covered wet, a synthetic lining would worry me less.

How does it stay on?

The listing does not say, which is the omission to weigh. Across five bullets Formosa names the vinyl, the lining, the vents, the UV resistance and the cleaning, and no strap, no drawstring and no fastening of any kind. On a cover 75 inches wide and 48 tall that is a lot of sail area. Every other cover on this shelf publishes its fixing: straps on ZHSX, SunPatio, Tuyeho, YWWQYBYQ, Unicook and Simple Houseware; a drawstring on iCOVER and Summerset; both on VIBOOS. A cover for a built-in island is admittedly the case where it matters least — the cover hangs over a masonry run rather than a wheeled cart — but on an exposed terrace, ask before buying.
