What you are getting

Three spatulas — a cooking spatula turner, a grill spatula and a 4 × 8 in hamburger turner — in stainless steel with a published 1/25 inch blade thickness and wooden handles with a hanging hole. Handwash only.

The only blade thickness on this shelf

1/25 inch is 1.02 mm, and it is the right figure for a griddle spatula.

Thin enough to slide under a burger without shoving it. Thick enough not to flex when you lean on it, which is what a cheap spatula does — and a flexing blade cannot press a smash burger or scrape a plate.

Alpha Grillers says “extra-thick” with no number. The other nine listings say nothing at all.

Three spatulas, because a flat top needs two hands

This is a teppanyaki and griddle set, not a grill-grate set.

On a flat top one spatula goes under the patty while the other presses down, holds the bun or folds the onions back. BLACKSTONE sells two on this shelf for the same reason.

And it is the only listing to say handwash only

“Metal spatula set is handwash only”

Correct, because the handles are wood — and a dishwasher raises the grain, lifts the finish and eventually splits it.

Read it against XUDAKAIXIN on this shelf, which claims an acacia handle and dishwasher safety. Both cannot be true. GRILLHOGS has solid oak and publishes nothing either way.

Anmarko is the one that tells you.

What is not published

No lengths, which is the safety spec here. No steel grade, where GRILLHOGS publishes 18/0. No warranty. Eight hundred and fifty grams for three.

The questions that come in

Why does 1/25 inch matter?

Because blade thickness is what decides whether a spatula works, and this is the only listing on this shelf to publish one. One twenty-fifth of an inch is 1.02 mm (0.04 in), and it sits in the right place. Thinner and the blade flexes: lean on it to press a smash burger and it bows away from the plate, so the patty never gets squashed and you cannot scrape residue off a griddle either. Thicker and the leading edge stops being able to slide under a patty cleanly — it shoves instead of lifting, and the crust tears off and stays on the plate. Around a millimeter of stiff steel with a ground edge does both jobs. Alpha Grillers claims "extra-thick" with no number; the other nine listings publish nothing.

Why three spatulas and no tongs?

Because this is a griddle set, and a flat top is a two-handed, no-tongs instrument. On a grill grate you turn food with tongs and lift it with one spatula. On a flat top nothing is suspended over flames: everything sits on steel, so there is nothing to pinch — and the actions are pressing, sliding, folding and scraping, all of which take a flat blade. A smash burger genuinely needs two implements: one spatula under the patty, the other pressing or holding the bun. BLACKSTONE sells two spatulas on this shelf for exactly this reason. Anmarko gives you three different widths, including a 4 × 8 in hamburger turner — a wide blade for lifting a whole patty flat.

How much does handwash only cost you?

Two minutes and a bit of discipline — and it is the honest instruction. Anmarko publishes "metal spatula set is handwash only", because the handles are wood: a dishwasher cycle is a hot alkaline bath that raises the grain, lifts any finish and eventually splits the handle along its length. The muddle this shelf creates is instructive. XUDAKAIXIN claims an acacia wood handle and that "these grill tools are dishwasher-safe", which cannot both hold. GRILLHOGS has solid oak and publishes nothing either way. The sets that can honestly claim a machine are the ones with no wood: Amazon Basics (steel handles), Alpha Grillers, Taimasi, BLACKSTONE (heat-resistant plastic).
