What you are getting

A spatula, a grill fork, a pair of tongs and a cloth storage bag — all stainless steel, with stainless steel handles, rust-resistant and dishwasher safe. Bag: 14.6 × 3.4 × 2 in.

Four dollars nineteen a piece

Only two sets here are cheaper per piece: Taimasi at $0.95 for thirty-four, and Home-Complete at $3.31 for seven.

And this is the cheapest four-piece set: Alpha Grillers is also four pieces, at $8.09 each.

Steel handles, which is a genuine trade

The only set here with stainless steel handles rather than wood, plastic or PVC.

What steel gives you: nothing to perish, nothing to soften, nothing to split, and a genuine dishwasher clearance — where Anmarko’s wooden handles are “handwash only” and GrillPro’s PVC softens.

What it costs you: steel conducts heat. A steel-handled tool left resting on a hot grill is a tool you cannot pick up.

And the bag is the thing that keeps a set together

Measured and published — 14.6 × 3.4 × 2 inches. Two sets here include storage: this and Home-Complete’s hard case.

A loose set of grill tools ends up in three drawers.

What is not published

No tool lengths — and length is the safety spec on this shelf, with XUDAKAIXIN publishing 24 inches and GRILLHOGS 12. No steel grade, where GRILLHOGS publishes 18/0. No bottle opener, which three sets here have. No warranty. Four hundred and thirty-one grams, among the lightest here.

The questions that come in

Are steel handles better or worse?

Better for durability, worse for heat — and this is the only set on this shelf with them. What steel gives you: nothing to perish. A wooden handle splits if machine-washed (Anmarko says "handwash only" for exactly that reason); a PVC handle softens with heat (GrillPro); a plastic handle discolours. Steel does none of it, which is why this set’s dishwasher claim is unqualified where others are hedged. What it costs you: steel conducts. Rest a steel-handled tool across the grill for thirty seconds and you cannot pick it up — which is precisely the habit OXO designs for with its silicone tool rest. The alternatives here are wood (GRILLHOGS oak, XUDAKAIXIN acacia, Anmarko), which conducts slowest, and heat-resistant plastic (BLACKSTONE).

How long are the tools?

The listing does not say, and on this shelf that is the specification that matters most. The only measurement published is the bag: 14.6 × 3.4 × 2 inches — which caps the tools at under 14.6 inches but does not tell you where they sit. Taimasi makes the argument this shelf turns on: long handles let you "cook your meat from a safe distance without worry of getting burned". The lengths that are published here: XUDAKAIXIN 24 in, GrillPro 15 in, Home-Complete 13.5 to 14 in piece by piece, GRILLHOGS 12 in. A 14-inch bag suggests tools of about 13 to 14 inches, which is adequate for a gas grill and short for a loaded charcoal kettle.

Is a four-piece set enough?

For most grilling, yes — and note that the fourth piece is the bag. The tools are a spatula, a fork and tongs, which covers turning, lifting and moving. What is missing against the bigger sets here: a basting brush (Alpha Grillers includes an 18-inch silicone one, Home-Complete a 13.5-inch brush, Taimasi two), skewers (Home-Complete, Taimasi), a grill brush for cleaning (Taimasi has two), and a thermometer (Taimasi’s is digital). The grill fork is the piece worth a thought: it is traditional and it punctures meat, which releases juice — most cooks end up using the tongs for everything and leaving the fork in the bag.
