What you are getting

A 58 x 23 x 43 inch waterproof polyester cover with hook-and-loop straps on both sides and a drawstring at the hem — the only cover on this shelf with both.

The rule nobody else gives you

“it’s okay as long as the width plus depth is less than or equal to 80 inches”

That is the correct way to size a cover, because a cover is a fabric envelope and what limits it is the girth, not any single dimension. A narrow deep grill and a wide shallow one need the same cloth.

The arithmetic holds: this cover’s own width plus depth is 58 + 23 = 81 inches, and it accepts a grill at 80. One inch of total slack, published to the inch.

Why two fixings

They hold different things. A drawstring pulls the hem in under the grill so the skirt cannot billow and lift. Straps pull the panels against the grill so they cannot flap and chafe.

Most covers here have one or the other. This has both, for $12.99.

The cleaning instruction, which the shelf contradicts

VIBOOS says wipe only, never a washing machine. Simple Houseware, YWWQYBYQ and iCOVER all say to hose or rinse theirs. Both can be true of different coatings — follow your own cover’s maker.

What is not published

No denier, no warranty, and no air vents.

The questions that come in

What is the width-plus-depth rule?

The most useful sentence on this shelf. VIBOOS writes: "If your grill width is slightly wider than 58 inches (within 60″), it’s okay as long as the width plus depth is less than or equal to 80 inches." That is the right way to size a cover, because a cover is a fabric envelope and what limits it is the girth rather than any single dimension — a narrow deep grill and a wide shallow one can need the same amount of cloth. The arithmetic checks out too: this cover’s own width plus depth is 58 + 23 = 81 inches, and it accepts a grill at 80. One inch of total slack, published to the inch. No other maker on this shelf gives you anything to calculate with.

Why do two fixings matter?

Because they hold different parts of the cover. A drawstring pulls the hem in underneath the grill, so the skirt cannot billow and lift. Side straps pull the body of the cover against the grill, so the panels cannot flap and chafe. Most covers on this shelf have one or the other: iCOVER and Summerset have drawstrings, while ZHSX, SunPatio, Tuyeho, YWWQYBYQ, Unicook and Simple Houseware have straps. This is the only cover here with both, at $12.99. The flapping is not a cosmetic issue either — three makers on this shelf (Formosa, SunPatio, Summerset) line their covers specifically because unlined coated fabric moving against a stainless lid scuffs it.

Can I hose it down?

VIBOOS says no, and three other covers on this shelf say yes — which is worth knowing before you reach for the hose. This listing says to "wipe the barbecue cover with a cloth and let it dry in the sunlight. Do not clean in the washing machine and dryer", and ZHSX says the same. But Simple Houseware says "simply hose it down with water", YWWQYBYQ says "just rinse with water", and iCOVER says "a simple rinse with water". Both instructions can be honest for different constructions: a PVC- or vinyl-backed fabric shrugs off a hose, whereas a lighter coated polyester can take water through a stitch line. Follow the maker of the cover you own, not the shelf.
