Pasper 28 cm (11 in) honeycomb stainless review

A stainless wok with a honeycomb-textured surface protecting the nonstick layer, stated free of PFAS and PTFE, and oven safe to 230 °C (446 °F).

What we would actually buy The honeycomb is a genuine idea rather than a marketing texture. It trades some release for a lot of scratch resistance.

What you are getting

A 28 cm (11 in) stainless wok whose cooking surface is a raised honeycomb pattern of bare stainless with nonstick coating in the recesses. Utensils ride on the steel; food sits partly on the coating.

Why that works

It is mechanical rather than chemical. A spatula cannot reach the coating because the honeycomb ridges stand proud of it, so the surface survives treatment that would strip a flat coating. The cost is release: food touches steel as well as coating, so it does not slide quite as freely.

What the maker states

Free of PFAS and PTFE, oven safe to 230 °C (446 °F), dishwasher safe, and suitable for every hob type including induction. That is a more complete specification than most woks in this catalog publish.

Where it sits

Dearer than the coated woks above it, cheaper than the top of the hub. What the extra buys is a surface that will survive a household that does not read instructions.

What we rate, and what we do not

Strengths

  • The honeycomb structure is a real mechanical answer to utensil scratching
  • Publishes an oven limit and states the coating chemistry it avoids
  • Cool handle and dishwasher safe

Compromises

  • Honeycomb surfaces release food less completely than a smooth coating
  • Dearer than the two woks above it in this hub
  • No base construction published

The questions that come in

How does the honeycomb structure work?

Raised stainless ridges stand proud of the nonstick coating in the recesses, so a utensil rides on steel and cannot reach the coating. It is a mechanical answer to scratching rather than a chemical one.

Does food release as well as on a smooth coating?

Not quite. Food touches steel as well as coating, so it does not slide as freely. That is the trade for a surface that survives metal tools.
